He so much more than that. By playing 30+ games each, for Manny, Jacoby and JD, he would actually PREVENT injury and fatigue by resting each of them throughout the season. He would start 90 - 100 games and get 400AB, and play another 30.

Therefore he would NOT be backup, in any sense of the word. He would be part of a true 4-man outfield, the best OF in baseball, and his role would be central.

In the OF, only Jacoby might be able to do this, but not nearly as well as Coco. What a challenge.

And, if he winds up not liking the role, he could use the time to boost his #'s and profile, and get a great trade during the year. And he would leave with pride, with fans wishing he would stay.

Instead of trading Coco, create a true 4-man outfield and incentive Coco to be key to it, with added financial incentives for BA, SB, runs scored, D, and even for a healthly OF throughout the season.

I think Bobby Kielty is terrific, but neither his offense, nor speed, nor D matches Coco's, either last year or average. Keep Coco. He will win a lot of games for us on his own, and even more by keeping the O.F. whole. And let Bobby back up the big 4.Gerryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05700309997350774658noreply@blogger.com
